What determines coaching effectiveness?

Even though coaching is now a multibillion-dollar industry, scientific evidence is still lacking in the understanding of the determinants of coaching effectiveness, as well as the measurable behaviors that underpin it. It is therefore still difficult to measure, track and evaluate the effectiveness of coaching.
This issue of Coaching Research in Practice reflects on a current paper that sheds significant light on the topic. It identifies some determinants of coaching effectiveness and associated measurable behaviors and makes some recommendations for measuring, tracking and evaluating coaching effectiveness.
