What is reciprocal peer coaching?

Reciprocal peer coaching is different from buddy coaching, and even peer coaching. In reciprocal peer coaching, you coach and get coached by two different people. As a client, this gives you a safe space to work with your coach authentically and as a coach, your client is in turn able to be fully present to the coaching process. In reciprocal peer coaching, you work with your assigned coach and client for several sessions (usually 6) over a period of time (usually 2-6 months). Once again, this ensures an authentic coaching relationship as both coach and client and results in coaches experiencing all the expected outcomes that our clients enjoy.

Reciprocal peer coaching is like a fringe benefit of being coach. Instead of paying per session, you only need to pay ReciproCoach a nominal coordination fee, which is about a third of the typical cost of a single coaching session. Thanks to your fees, we have been able to develop a sophisticated online platform for coordinating the program, and not only do you get to submit preferences for the kind of coach you’d like to be matched with, but you also get to review profiles of other coaches and submit some requests for the coaches you’d prefer to work with. We match for optimal coaching fit and monitor each reciprocal peer coaching relationship through to completion – you log your progress as you go via our online system, and we collect feedback from all participants at the end. The result is that everyone gives and receives equally, and our community maintains a professional standard that keeps coaches returning year in and year out.

Over the years (more than a decade in fact – you can read our history here), we’ve refined our system to deliver consistent satisfaction. More than 90% of our participants rate their coaches as either highly effective or effective and the same number enjoy their clients just as much. Less than 1% of participants rate their partners negatively, and when this happens, we work to support our members’ satisfaction, and where necessary, their development too. This is why we have the integrated mentoring and supervision programs, which have evolved over the years to enrich the community even further.
