When was the last time you listened to your own recorded session?
Posted on: 07 Jun 2023
Many coaches fall into the trap of only listening to their own recorded sessions when they have to. Then, when the necessity of a credential exam has passed, years can pass before they listen to one of their own coaching session recordings again.
The best coaches however make a point of listening to their own recorded sessions and assessing themselves regularly. It is a professional accountability that they hold themselves to.
Lyssa deHart, LICSW, MCC, BCC, is one of these coaches. Lyssa openly acknowledges that even experienced coaches like herself can sometimes fall into predictable patterns or overlook important insights shared by their clients, so she frequently utilizes RaeNotes to review her coaching sessions. Lyssa emphasizes, “It is important for all coaches, including MCCs, to engage in self-reflection, just like mentees or those preparing for coaching credentials.” We are all on a continuous journey towards achieving more ease and mastery.
ReciproCoach is a big advocate of coaches adopting professional habits like recording, listening to and self-assessing their own coaching sessions on a regular basis for their own professional accountability.
This is why we regularly offer recorded sessions peer coaching rounds for experienced coaches, as well as recorded sessions peer coaching rounds for students and new coaches (next registration closes June 25). This is also why we’re offering another Using RaeNotes Group Mentoring Session, with MCC, Lyssa deHart (registration closes July 3, observer only session also available), because we think every coach should be using RaeNotes to transcribe and self-assess their own coaching. RaeNotes is an invaluable tool for cultivating a coaching mindset, fostering self-awareness, and further enhancing your skills as a developing coach, as you learn to approach your own coaching with curiosity. If you don’t already have a RaeNotes account, sign up for a free account here and both ReciproCoach and you will get some free transcription minutes. Whether you join our group mentoring session or not, we know it’s only a matter of time before you’ll be using RaeNotes.
ReciproCoach also offers coaches lots of tips on the technicalities of obtaining permission to record coaching sessions, how to record coaching sessions, how to share your recordings (for example with a mentor), how to trim, cut or edit recordings (to save money on transcription costs), as well as options for transcribing sessions.
In short, we’ve got you covered!
Fostering professional accountability among coaches and coaching,
